Arena in Verona
The Arena in Verona is located on the beautiful Bra' Square in the centre of the city.
The comprehensive programme on lyric operas attracts visitors from all over the world. The ambience is unique too. This is an amphitheatre dating back to the 1st century after Christ. After the Colosseum in Rome and the Capuano amphitheatre this is one of the best preserved amphitheatres.
The arena was built between the end of the empire of Augustus and the empire of Claudio outside the city wall of Verona. The arena was initially a venue for battles and gladiator fights.
